How we price the work.
Quotes are free. Common jobs carry a firm price that includes GST. Your quote spells out what that number covers and what it does not, so nothing on the invoice is a surprise. Work that can’t be sized until it’s open is charged by the hour, plus GST.
Free quotes
Every job is quoted firm once we have seen the job, or from your photos for smaller work. The quote holds for the work it describes. If we open something up and find more than the quote covers, we stop, show you, and give you the cost before we carry on. Nothing reaches your invoice that you have not already agreed to.
Fixed prices, GST included
The part, the labour, the testing, and the Certificate of Compliance where the job needs one. No separate call-out fee in working hours. After hours a call-out applies per visit; we tell you the figure when you call.
By the hour for open scope
When a job can’t be sized until it’s open, you pay for the time it takes, at an hourly rate plus GST that we confirm when you book.
What you have when we leave
- A number you approved before we started, and an invoice that matches it.
- A Certificate of Compliance on all fixed wiring work.
- Photos of the finished work, so you can see what is behind the wall without opening it up again.
- A tidy site, and a workmanship guarantee behind the job.
You get the certificate the law requires.
On fixed wiring work, a new power point included, you get a Certificate of Compliance. It is your proof that the work meets New Zealand’s electrical safety standards and was tested. Keep it somewhere safe. When you sell, when you claim, or when the next electrician opens your board, that is the paper they ask for.
Small repairs, swapping a socket or a light fitting, do not need one.
Time-based work, plus GST.
For fault-finding, repairs, and anything we can’t put a fixed number on until we’ve seen it.
Hourly and attendance rates are confirmed when you book, and quotes are free.

How the pricing works.
Why are some jobs fixed price and others by the hour?
Where the scope is known before we arrive, an outlet swapped same type, same place, or a safety-switch upgrade for example, we can put a firm number on it, so we do. Where the scope cannot be known until the wall or ceiling is open, fault-finding or a partial rewire for instance, we charge by the hour, at a rate we confirm when you book, so you only pay for the time the job takes.
What does a fixed price include?
Everything we write into your quote for that job: the part, the labour, the testing, and the Certificate of Compliance where the job needs one. GST is in the number. No separate call-out fee in working hours; after hours a call-out applies per visit, and we tell you the figure when you call.
What happens if the scope changes on the day?
The price holds for the work your quote describes. If we open something up and find more than the quote covers, damaged wiring behind an outlet for instance, we stop, show you what we have found, and give you a price for the extra before we carry on, so the decision stays yours. You approve the change first, not discover it on the invoice.
Are the prices GST inclusive?
Fixed prices are given GST-inclusive when you receive them, so the number we give you is the number you pay for the listed scope. Hourly rates, the first hour on site and after-hours call-outs are quoted plus GST, which is how trade rates are usually given. Materials, labour and GST are itemised on every invoice.
Is there a call-out fee?
No separate call-out fee in working hours. For hourly work the first hour on site covers the call-out and dispatch, with travel anywhere in Auckland included. After hours the rate is higher and we tell you the figure when you call, before anyone is sent.
Do I get a Certificate of Compliance?
Yes, on every job that needs one. Where your quote lists the Certificate, it is in the price. On hourly work, the Certificate of Compliance is a small fixed fee per job, confirmed when you book. Certifying work someone else has done is a separate inspection, priced per job for up to 3 circuits.
Is the figure you give me a quote?
Yes, once we have seen the job or your photos. We confirm the number for the work agreed before anything starts, and we hold that quote. Quotes are free.
Not on the list?
Rewires, new builds, renovations and fit-outs are quoted job by job after a site visit. Send a few lines about the property and we will come back with a firm number.
